The Quality Assurance Division is one of the premier Divisions of RITES, engaged in Quality Surveillance, Third Party inspection and testing of various types of equipment and materials, since 1975.
In order to meet the ever growing need for expeditious testing and reliability of test results, the Quality Assurance Division established a state-of-the-art laboratory in the year 1980 at Calcutta. This Laboratory simultaneously upgraded as per changing requirements of market and technology to cope up with needs of inspection and testing.
To-day, RITES Laboratory has got facilities to perform Physical and Chemical testing of Rubber. Oil, Grease, Paint, Varnish,Textile,Ferrous / Non-Ferrous metals and Alloys & variety of other products. The laboratory is equipped with the state of art facilities and latest test equipments such as Spectrometer, Micro processor based Tensile Test machine, Computerized Metallurgical Microscope along with Image Process Analyzer, Izod Charpy testing machine with microprocessor to conduct tests from-60°C to + 300° C U.V. Visible Spectrophotometer for estimation of trace elements upto ppm level etc.
The Laboratory is a part of the Quality Assurance Division of RITES Eastern Region, headed by General Manager (Inspection). The Laboratory has highly trained experts, specialized in different field of testing, analyzing and interpretation of test results.
